Spiritual Formation

Priesthood rooted in prayer
Spiritual formation deepens relationship with Christ and shapes seminarians for priestly ministry through prayer, sacramental life, and spiritual accompaniment.

What Spiritual Formation Is

Growing in friendship with Christ
Spiritual formation lies at the heart of priestly identity. It seeks to form men whose vocation is sustained by prayer, sacramental life, and attentive listening to the Word of God. Formation encourages seminarians to deepen their relationship with Christ the Good Shepherd, allowing their personal vocation to be shaped through conversion, spiritual discipline, and faithful participation in the life of the Church. The aim is not simply religious practice, but the gradual configuration of life and ministry to Christ.

Life at the Beda

Formation shaped by liturgical life
Spiritual formation at the Beda is lived through the daily rhythm of prayer, the celebration of the Eucharist, the Liturgy of the Hours, and regular spiritual direction. Retreats, days of recollection, and personal prayer support continued growth in vocation. Formation takes place within the Church’s liturgical tradition, helping seminarians recognise priesthood as a life given in service, sustained by prayer, and nourished through sacramental ministry.
